Would you like to learn ways to help your elementary school aged child with reading, writing, and math?

HELPP IS HERE!


 

The free HELPP (Hants Early Learners and Parents in Partnership) Family Literacy Program is open to parents, guardians, and other adults (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) who are interested in learning ways to help their elementary school aged children with reading, writing, and math. The HELPP program will show you how to make learning more enjoyable for the whole family in a series of fun sessions for adults and children.

LEARN HOW TO MAKE MATH FUN! Families will learn tips, activities, and games to help math fun for everyone.

READING FOR THE FUN OF IT! Participants will learn ways to make reading and writing enjoyable for the whole family.

LOCATIONS FOR 2011-12

  • Falmouth District School: Mondays at 6:00 pm
  • Newport Station District School: Wednesdays at 10:00 am
  • Three Mile Plains District School: Tuesdays at 6:00 pm
  • Windsor Elementary School: Wednesdays at 6:00 pm
  • Windsor Forks District School: Tuesdays at 6:00 pm
  • Dr. Arthur Hines Elementary School: Mondays at 9:30 am

JOIN ANYTIME! Your children do not have to attend a particular school for your family to attend the program there. Homeschooling families are welcome.

 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS:

MATH MATTERS! The "Math Matters!" program is a series of workshops providing families with tips, activities, and games that will help children practice and improve their math skills. These workshops will be offered at the Family Resource Center, 10 Water Street in Windsor, on Saturday mornings at 9:30 am, starting February 4th. No registration necessary.

CREATE-A-BOOK The "Create-a-Book" family bookmaking program will allow parents/guardians and their children to use their imaginations and create a book together. Each participating family will receive a free hardcover copy of the book created! This program will be offered at the Hants Learning Network's Learning Centre, 10 Water Street in Windsor, on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm, starting March 1st. Space is limited.
